St. Robert Pedestrian Bikeway Trail Master Plan
This master plan was developed in an effort to provide the personnel of Ft. Leonard Wood and the citizens of the surrounding communities with an alternative mode of transportation. The multi-modal eight foot wide trail system will connect Ft. Wood to the City of St. Robert, Missouri, the City of Waynesville, Missouri as well as the county at-large. The trail will also connect the City of Waynesville's existing park system with the City of St. Robert's park system. The trail is to assist in providing the soldiers with a safe link between the Fort's Main Gate on Missouri Avenue and the area businesses along Missouri Avenue and across Interstate 44. This trial system will be the only transportation system available to many people stationed at Ft. Leonard Wood, as well as throughout the City of St. Robert and other communities.
To date, six phases of the project have been funded and constructed under the ISTEA/TE program administered by MoDOT. Archer has recently been engaged to design a pedestrian bridge over Interstate 44 to provide safe passage for pedestrians to the hospitality development to the North.
