Athletic Field Improvements
CM Archer was retained by the St. James R-1 School District to assist with athletic field site improvements.
The project consisted of two phases. Phase 1 of the project included the abandonment of an existing storm water detention basin and the construction of a proposed storm water detention basin. The construction of the proposed storm water detention basin included 3,100 LF of diversion swales, 725 LF of basin berms, a reinforced concrete outlet structure, a reno mattress outlet protection device, 48 LF of 30” RCP, 312 LF of 30” HDPE pipe, 200 LF of 36” HDPE pipe and various storm water drainage structures. Phase 2 of the project involved the construction of 1,390 LF of 17-ft granular paved access road with 7-inches of 2 ½” minus base course and 3-inches of 1” minus surface course on geogrid and 30 LF of three 30” RCP culverts.
CM Archer prepared a conceptual site plan of the area to include a track/football field, practice football field, and practice softball baseball fields. Phase 1 improvements included the initial grading, drainage structures and seeding of the area for the track and football fields. Phase 2 improvements included the final construction of the track and football field. Plans and specifications included detail to identify pavement/base depths, bleacher locations and approximate sizes and any drainage structures and facilities that were required for final construction. Plans were submitted to the City of St. James and the Missouri Department of Natural Resources for permitting purposes.
Archer also provided cut/fill staking of a 50 foot grid plus centerline stakes for drainage swales and/or structures.
This project has required a very high level of cooperation between utilities, affected property owners as well as area residents. The project required good coordination between the Engineer, the City of St. James and the School District Staff.
