Hermann Transportation Enhancement
As City Engineer, CM Archer assisted the City of Hermann in obtaining $475,000 of Transportation Enhancement Funds through the Missouri Department of Transportation. This project would serve as the first phase of improvements which will ultimately provide safe pedestrian access, connecting many of the tourist attractions in the community. This project also includes the design and construction of a new Transportation Museum which will highlight the different modes of transportation the Hermann area has enjoyed throughout the years, including river, rail, highway and air. The Transportation Museum will also serve as the Amtrak depot and will be located adjacent to the Union Pacific Railroad.
CM Archer will assist the City through the design phase of the project including conducting topographic, property and utility surveys sufficient to develop plans for the project, hydraulic analysis and design, prepare alternative designs and cost estimates, develop preliminary plans and recommend to the City the best overall general design based on these studies.
Adequate property title information will be secured and right-of-way requirements will be determined in order to prepare right-of-way plans and assist the City in acquiring the right-of-way deeds needed for the project. Archer will assist the City through the bidding and will also serve as the City's representative for administering the terms of the construction contract between the City and their contractor. This project is being coordinated with a separately funded Downtown Revitalization grant project, also under CM Archer's guidance. The total project includes utility relocation, sidewalk replacement and construction, storm water management and street paving. Of the $1,200,000 anticipated price tag, CM Archer assisted in the securing of over $900,000 in grant funds.
